Cookie policy
We keep cookies to a minimum. We never use advertising cookies, and we never sell your information.

What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files that a website saves in your browser. Similar tools, like "local storage", work the same way. They help a site remember things, such as where you left off.
What our website uses
| Name | What it does | Type | How long |
|---|---|---|---|
| dwf-intro | Shows our welcome animation only once per visit. | Essential | Until you close the tab |
| dwf-chat | Remembers your chat with our website helper while you browse. | Essential | Until you close the tab |
| dwf-orientation | Saves your progress in the volunteer orientation course. | Essential | Until you clear it |
| googtrans | Remembers the language you chose in the language picker. Set only if you pick a language other than English. | Preference | Until you close the browser or switch back |
| Vercel Web Analytics | Counts page visits so we know which pages help people most. It doesn't use cookies or identify you. | Analytics | No cookie |
If we turn on Google Analytics in the future, it will set cookies (named _ga) that count visits without identifying you, with advertising features turned off. We'll update this page first.
Partner websites
Some features come from other companies, and they may set their own cookies when you use them:
- Zeffy and Every.org, when you donate or buy a ticket.
- YouTube, only after you press play. We use YouTube's privacy-enhanced mode.
- Map tiles from OpenStreetMap, on our maps.
- Google Translate, only after you choose a language other than English.
Their cookie policies explain how they use them.
How to control cookies
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings at any time. Our website will still work. You may just see the welcome animation again, or lose your orientation progress.
