The problem · Ghana

Bright kids. Schools missing the basics.

Children in Mepe and Dadome are eager to learn, but their schools lack internet, safe classrooms and basic health care.

01 · OFFLINE

A new lab with no internet

Our Dadome lab has computers but no reliable internet. Many students had never used a computer before.

02 · CLASSROOMS

Still recovering from the floods

In October 2023, dam spillage put about 85% of Mepe under water, and 14,704 pupils in North Tongu could not attend school. Many classrooms already lacked desks, doors and windows.

03 · HEALTH

Care is far away

Dental and health check-ups are hard to reach. A toothache can keep a child out of class.

Who they are

The Ewe of North Tongu.

Godwill Tandoh and his mother, Mama Josephine, belong to the Ewe people, who live mainly in Ghana's Volta Region, and also in Togo and Benin.

The great escape from NotsieOral history tells how the Ewe fled King Agokoli's walled city of Notsie, in today's Togo, walking backwards so their footprints seemed to lead in. They went on to settle along the Volta.
The Apenorto FestivalEach July–August, the Mepe Traditional Area gathers for family reunions, the talking drum and a grand procession of chiefs.
Ewe kenteIn 2024, UNESCO recognized kente, including the Ewe tradition, as Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.

Families in Mepe and Dadome farm, fish the Volta River and trade in local markets.

2021

Where it began

Godwill started Dreamers Wish with his mother, Josephine, and the support of some amazing friends from Utah, to serve the children of her village — more than 600 young dreamers.

2024

Girl child education campaign

400+ sanitary boxes delivered to girls, and retention rose 25%.

2025

A STEM lab and murals of hope

Our largest volunteer group supported 400+ students. 10 of 15 classrooms are now refurbished, with a STEAME Innovation Lab and library.
