Refugee Dreamers Youth Apprenticeship
A part-time apprenticeship for refugee high school and college students who want to give back.
- Help plan and run programs for refugee children in grades K–12
- Design workshops: poetry, art, dance and teen mentorship
- Find sponsors, grants and school partners
- Track program results and suggest improvements

The internship plan
Two ways to intern.
Choose the length that fits your school calendar. We shape the dates and hours with you.
The 12-week plan
Weeks 1–2 · Welcome
Meet your mentor, complete our volunteer orientation and set two or three goals together.
Weeks 3–6 · Learn by doing
Work alongside the team on real tasks in your area, with a short weekly check-in.
Weeks 7–10 · Own a project
Lead one project from plan to result, like a campaign, a lesson series or a data report.
Weeks 11–12 · Share it
Present your results to our leadership team, then get feedback and a reference letter.

Internship · NewInternational Operations & Program Support InternWork alongside our in-country teams to keep programs, projects and visiting teams running smoothly.
What you'll do
- Support daily program logistics with our Ghana or Kenya team
- Help run classes, workshops and visits from volunteer teams
- Track supplies, attendance and project budgets
- Document projects with photos and short reports, with consent
- Keep information flowing between our U.S. and in-country teams
What you'll bring
- Organized, flexible and calm when plans change
- Respect for other cultures and a wish to learn
- Ready to travel, or to work remotely across time zones
Commitment: 1 week to 3 months in person in Ghana or Kenya, or 12 weeks part-time remotely. We discuss travel costs and logistics during your interview.
What you'll gain: International field experience, nonprofit operations skills, a mentor and a reference letter when you finish.

What you'll do
- Build schedules, supply lists and sign-in sheets for classes and events
- Coordinate volunteers and keep families informed
- Help prepare logistics for our Ghana and Kenya trips

- Clear communicator by email and phone
- Comfortable with Google Sheets or similar

What you'll do
- Coach small teams as they build and code VEX robots
- Help instructors set up and run each lesson
- Encourage students and track their progress
- Help prepare students for showcases and the STEAM Fair
What you'll bring
- Patient and great with kids
- Interest in STEM; no robotics experience needed, we train you
- You may be asked to complete a background check, as for all work with children
Commitment: 5–20 hours a week for about 12 weeks, on a schedule we agree on together.

- Canva or similar tools are a plus

- Detail-oriented with deadlines
- Interest in nonprofit finance or development
Commitment: 5–20 hours a week for about 12 weeks, on a schedule we agree on together.

- Design social graphics, flyers and event signs
- Edit short videos from trips, classes and events
- Organize our photo and video library

- A portfolio or samples of your work
- Experience with Canva, Adobe or similar tools
- Video editing (CapCut, Premiere or similar) is a plus
Commitment: 5–20 hours a week for about 12 weeks, on a schedule we agree on together.

- Clean and organize program data in spreadsheets

- Help design short surveys for students, families and volunteers

- Comfortable with Excel or Google Sheets
- Curious, careful and honest with numbers
- Statistics, public health or social science studies are a plus
