Where the money goes
The need
Menstrual health barriers are among the leading causes of school absenteeism for girls in rural Kenya and Ghana. Without pads or private toilets, many girls miss several days of school every month — and fall behind.
“Our girl child education campaign has made a remarkable impact, delivering over 400 sanitary boxes to young girls in need.”Ghana 2024 trip report

Our approach
Reusable sanitary pads and Dignity Kits for every girl, with workshops on health, confidence, leadership and STEAME careers — in partnership with Sankofa Care Initiative.
Volunteers will sew washable sanitary pads and Dignity Kits, and teach local women to make them — building a lasting, local supply for girls in rural schools.
Free dental cleanings for students, lessons on brushing and caring for teeth and gums, and a take-home kit with toothpaste and hygiene supplies. Launched in Kenya in 2026 — coming to Ghana in 2027.
Coming soon to Ghana: free community health checks in rural areas, with blood pressure, vision and fitness screenings, basic care and healthy-living education.
Water reservoirs, compost toilets and handwashing stations, so students, especially girls, can learn every day with dignity. See the project
Working locks, private toilets and safe disposal, assessed at every partner school.
Volunteers coach volleyball and soccer, building health, teamwork and leadership.

Together with our partner Sankofa Care Initiative, we distributed reusable sanitary pads and Dignity Kits to more than 100 schoolgirls this summer — paired with honest, joyful lessons on puberty, self-care and confidence.

Sankofa Care Initiative — Reach, guide, empower

Tooth pain and infections keep children out of class. In our Dental Hygiene Workshop, students get a free dental cleaning, learn how to brush and care for their teeth and gums, and take home a kit with toothpaste and hygiene supplies.
Launched 2026 at Mijomboni Primary
Coming 2027 to the Dadome district

When a school has no running water and too few toilets, children get sick and girls stay home during their periods. At one of our partner schools in Kenya, 26 teachers and hundreds of students shared just two toilets. Clean water and safe toilets change that.
$7,000 water reservoirs and $8,000 compost toilets in Ghana; $4,000 sanitation at Mijomboni, Kenya
